Carnival Cruise Teams Up with UFC to Monetize Passenger Fights

Because why stop the chaos when you can sell tickets? – Dana White

Quick Take

Carnival Cruise Lines will now offer passengers the chance to legally beat each other up, for a fee, through a new partnership with UFC. Dubbed the “Octagon Package,” it turns the ship’s top deck into a floating fight night. Dana White and Jake Paul will unveil the deal in a rum-fueled press event.

The Economics of Elbows at Sea

Carnival execs say the decision came after realizing passenger fights were inevitable, so why not monetize them?

Cruise line data shows the “average UFC fan” and “average Carnival passenger” share 87% overlap in tank top ownership, snack bar dependence, and volume control issues.

By charging $999 for the Octagon Package (including balcony knockout views and souvenir mouthguards), Carnival hopes to recoup revenue lost from demographics who refuse to sail after seeing viral fight videos.

The new package features unlimited Tap-Out Tacos, a 24/7 Open Bar & Open Guard, and shore excursions like “Beach Brawls of Barbados” and “Jamaican Jiu-Jitsu in the Sand.”

Every cabin gets a free concussion kit, and winners of onboard matches receive early access to the soft-serve machine.

Carnival says the partnership with UFC is “like Roman gladiators, but with more SPF 50 and fewer tigers.”

Rumble on the Rum Deck” Sets Sail This Spring

MIAMI — Carnival Cruise Lines has officially announced a groundbreaking partnership with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, citing “the unstoppable, highly-spirited passenger combat operations” that have become a hallmark of its voyages.

“With the frequency of fights onboard, it just made sense to start charging admission. Why throw unruly passengers off the boat when you can put them in the Octagon and sell tickets?” – Trish Deckard, CMO

Introducing: The Octagon Package™
For just $999 (or free with the All-You-Can-Punch Drink Package), passengers can enjoy:

  • Balcony Knockout View: Private suite overlooking the ship’s newly installed regulation-size Octagon, complete with a complimentary concussion kit.
  • Unlimited Tap-Out Tacos: Served ringside by staff trained in both hospitality and low-level chokeholds.
  • Open Bar & Open Guard: Enjoy bottomless cocktails while heckling fighters from a safe distance, or until you decide to tag in yourself.
  • Souvenir Mouthguard: Custom-fit and engraved with “I Survived Carnival Combat™.”
  • Themed Excursions: Shore trips include “Beach Brawls of Barbados” and “Jamaican Jiu-Jitsu in the Sand.”

According to Carnival, the idea stemmed from a sharp increase in onboard altercations. While other cruise lines saw these incidents as PR disasters, Carnival saw “a floating Vegas” opportunity.

“Some demographics refuse to book Carnival because they’ve seen viral videos of passengers swinging pool chairs,” said CEO Arnold Donald. “So we thought, why fight it? Let’s sell the tickets, stack the chairs, and call Dana White.”

UFC President Dana White is set to make the official announcement alongside Jake Paul, who will emcee the ship’s inaugural weigh-in from the Lido Deck.

White called the partnership “the most natural evolution of human entertainment since Roman gladiators,” adding that “the average UFC fan and the average Carnival passenger have 87% overlap in dietary preferences, impulse control, and tank top ownership.”

Jake Paul, who will also serve as “Chief Disruption Officer,” teased that he plans to fight a mystery opponent during the maiden voyage.

“It’s either going to be a TikTok influencer or a guy who just tried to cut me in line at the buffet,” Paul said.

Carnival’s Octagon at Sea™ will debut this spring with the “Rumble on the Rum Deck” voyage, a seven-day Miami-to-Bahamas round trip where the only thing rougher than the waters will be the elbows.

Disclaimer: Carnival reminds passengers that all fights are subject to the ship’s “No Weapons, Yes Wallets” policy.
